About Our League
With a rich tradition of excellence in hockey, the Illinois West High School Hockey League is one of the leaders in player development and opportunity. After enjoying the privilege of representing their high school on the ice, many of our athletes go on to play competitive levels of junior and college hockey after graduation.
The IL West league coaching, level of competition, and development produce some of the top hockey players in Illinois. Our league is home to 6 state champions and 10 United Center appearances, as well as numerous Final Four and Elite 8 appearances.
Aside from the winning record of the league, the IL West division boasts 17 minute periods and a 4-man officiating system at the varsity level. Certified trainers are in attendance at all league games for our athlete's safety. IL West offers a free goalie clinic, an all-star game at both the JV and Varsity level, and outdoor Winter Classic games.
The IL West board, club boards, and coaches all have a superior level of commitment to the players, and constantly strive to offer the top hockey experience for the high school player.
